So my first guess was that they don't want to be under one definition that appeals to one audience, meaning they didn't want to be put in a box. That is understandable to me. On the other hand, most of these bands I would never have heard of if I wasn't interested in Gothic culture. So instead of trying to avoid the label "Goth" they should thanks it imo.

I'm pretty new to goth music and the only band that like more than 5 of their songs is Sisters of mercy.

I like plenty of new school bands and old school deathrock but there's a kind of unique fun energy to 45 Grave that I can't really seem to find anywhere else, I think Super Heroines are maybe the closest thing I can think of. Can anyone recommend anything with similar vibes?

I know these aren’t genres this sub talks about much because they aren’t goth but. I’m having trouble categorizing this stuff outside of goth/industrial proper

I was thinking about shows or movies that has goths as characters. And maybe it's just me but I really watch something like that. What are your thoughts about that, would you like to watch goths on movies or you think it's just cringe, and not feeling comfortable with that?

In today’s age goth is labeled as cool somewhat depends or in early 2000s people would get bullied for being from the norm . but in the 80s how was that life like . And I know bands hate being labeled but I’m talking about the bands pov. What did they think a goth was in there time that, that name had a bad rep . How would they be described

How did bands perceive typical goths in 80s

I'm looking for bands that I can potentially see live in the future or support that are similar to them. I'm aware of some of the other Ethereal-wave bands that reformed or are still active like MSG. Are there modern bands that have a similar sound?

With the recent discussion about VF got me thinking is there an equivilent these days thats active? or could the community get together to create one without the issues of the first one?
